Much of the landscape of the continental United States has been carved by glaciers which dominated the northern hemisphere about 15,000 years ago. The Great Lakes are great examples of the their abilities. Glaciers are the terraformers of the Earth. These grooves are long lasting evidence, left over from the most recent ice age.
